No:735/23, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev to the Republic of Uganda

On 18-19 December 2023, a delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev paid a visit to the Republic of Uganda.
Within the framework of the visit to Uganda, the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan was received by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
During the visit, consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Uganda on issues of mutual interest on a bilateral basis and within multilateral formats.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between the two states and emphasized the importance of further strengthening them.
Within the framework of the visit, an exchange of views was conducted on preparations for the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, in mid-January 2024, and on the transfer of the chairmanship from Azerbaijan to Uganda there.
The Azerbaijani delegation shared its experience of chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement and presented its recommendations regarding the organization of the Summit and future activities.
The other side also congratulated the Republic of Azerbaijan on being selected as the host of COP29, the largest-scale event of the UN system, and expressed hope for close interaction and cooperation.
