No:704/23, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov to the Republic of Colombia

On 6-7 December 2023, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov paid a visit to the Republic of Colombia.
On 6 December, E. Mammadov was received by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia Alvaro Duran, and the next round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia was held.
The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov on the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Francisco Coy on the Colombian side.
During the consultations, discussions were held on the current state of bilateral relations and the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, energy, humanitarian demining, tourism, culture, education and other areas.
E. Mammadov provided the other side with detailed information about Azerbaijan’s peace agenda, the process of normalization of relations with Armenia, and the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
Following the consultations, a signing ceremony of the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Azerbaijan National Library and the National Library of Colombia” was held.
Within the framework of the visit, E. Mammadov also held a meeting with President of the Senate of Colombia Iván Name.
During the meeting, the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy on interstate and international platforms, the importance of intensifying mutual exchange of visits, as well as prospects for deepening cooperation within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Pacific Alliance were discussed.
At the same time, E. Mammadov gave an interview to Colombia’s leading news television channel operating across the Americas, “NTN24.”
During the interview, questions were answered about Azerbaijan-Colombia bilateral relations, prospects for the future development of these relations, as well as the process of normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations.
