On 6 December 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with James O’Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs of the United States.
During the meeting, the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, the current situation in the region, as well as prospects of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia were discussed.
The importance of historical cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and the United States in a number of areas and the importance of developing bilateral relations within the framework of mutual interests were noted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan, as the initiator of the main elements of the peace process with Armenia, is a side interested in establishing peace and stability in the region.
At the same time, the importance of intensifying negotiations on the delimitation of the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia on a bilateral basis, which is one of the other directions of normalization, was highlighted.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
