No:695/23, Press release on the fourth meeting of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Bulgaria

On 1 December 2023, the fourth meeting of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Bulgaria was held in Sofia.
The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was headed by Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the delegation of the Republic of Bulgaria was headed by Mr. Tihomir Stoytchev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the consultations, the current state and development prospects of bilateral relations in the political, economic, energy, transport and humanitarian fields, including cooperation within the framework of international organizations, were discussed.
The importance of mutual high-level visits in the development of bilateral relations was emphasized, and in this regard, it was stated that the visits expected during the next year would make an additional contribution to the current dynamics of cooperation.
The importance of strategic dialogue and political consultations mechanisms between the two countries, as well as the activities of the Joint Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Bulgaria, was noted.
The other side was informed about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, mine threats in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, the large-scale reconstruction, restoration and urban planning works carried out by our country, as well as the implementation of the State Programme on the Great Return to the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, a detailed exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
During his visit to the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, also held meetings with Ms. Maria Gabriel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Boyko Borissov, Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, and Mr. Dragomir Zakov, Foreign and Security Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria.
