On 25 August 2023, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin within the framework of his visit to Russia.
At the meeting, topical issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Russia, including the current situation in the region, were discussed.
It was stated that Azerbaijan and Russia have mutually beneficial cooperation relations within bilateral, including multilateral, platforms.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the level of political dialogue between the two countries and cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, culture, humanitarian and other fields. In this regard, the necessity of using the existing potential towards further expanding relations was emphasized.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov also informed the other side about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the work carried out towards advancing the peace agenda, as well as the military-political provocations of the Armenian side that undermine these efforts and are contrary to international law and the Trilateral Statement dated 10 November 2020.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
