No:439/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Toivo Klaar, Special Representative of the European Union for the South Caucasus

On 16 August 2023, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Toivo Klaar, Special Representative of the European Union for the South Caucasus.
During the meeting, the sides conducted an exchange of views on the normalization process of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, negotiations conducted through the mediation of international partners, including the European Union, as well as the current regional situation.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Armenia’s increasing military-political provocations in the region recently, as well as false and groundless allegations regarding a “blockade” and a “tense humanitarian situation” in the region, do not contribute to peace and stability.
It was emphasized that the violation of the agreements on the use of the Aghdam-Khankendi road, also supported by the European Union, and, in parallel, the intensification of movement on the Lachin road, as well as on a meeting with representatives of Armenian residents in the direction of reintegration, shows that Armenia is not interested in the normalization process.
The sides also discussed other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
