On 28 July 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov received Luis Fernando Cuartas Ayala, newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to our country.
The Colombian Ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Luis Fernando Cuartas Ayala on his appointment as Ambassador to Azerbaijan and wished him success in his future activities.
During the meeting, the sides noted the importance of bilateral relations, the implementation of the political consultations mechanism, the benefit of mutual visits and the importance of expanding inter-parliamentary relations, and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation in the fields of education and tourism.
At the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided the other side with detailed information on Armenia’s occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan for nearly 30 years, its illegal activities in these lands, its policy of ethnic cleansing, and Azerbaijan’s peace efforts in the post-conflict period. It was stated that, at present, despite peace efforts in the region, Armenia’s provocations obstruct the process.
At the meeting, the sides also conducted an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
