No:369/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Deng Dau Deng Malek, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan

On 5 July 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Deng Dau Deng Malek, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, who is visiting our country to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement.
During the meeting, the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries was discussed. It was emphasized during the meeting that there are potential opportunities for the development of our bilateral relations in various areas, especially in the fields of economy, energy, trade and healthcare.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, noting that Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement is nearing completion, highlighted our country’s efforts during its chairmanship for the development of the Movement, as well as a number of initiatives related to its institutionalization.
The Minister emphasized that the procedures towards South Sudan’s membership in the Non-Aligned Movement had been completed and conveyed congratulations to the other side on the new membership.
Deng Dau Deng Malek, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its successful chairmanship of the NAM. He expressed his country’s interest in developing relations with Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
