No: 292/26 Press Release on Consular Discussions between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

On 22 June, the first meeting on consular matters was held in the city of The Hague between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
At the meeting, a number of issues of mutual interest were discussed, including the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the consular field, visa policy, and the expansion of cooperation in the fields of labour, internal affairs, justice and the provision of legal assistance.
At the talks, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emil Safarov, while the Dutch delegation was led by Head of the Department for Consular and Visa Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Jeroen Roodenburg.
During the talks, the sides reached agreement on the establishment of a bilateral cooperation mechanism with a view to developing ties in the consular field.
At the same time, during the meeting held by the delegation with officials of the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, discussions were held and an exchange of experience was carried out on migration, readmission and other related fields between the two countries.
On 23 June, the delegation held meetings with the heads of the offices of the International Air Transport Association and the International Organization for Migration based in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
On 24 June, the delegation was received by Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) Christophe Bernasconi. During the meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation was briefed on the activities of this organization, and an exchange of views was held on the implementation by the Republic of Azerbaijan of the international conventions to which the HCCH is party, as well as on matters of cooperation between the organization and our country.
