No:267/23, Press release on the meeting of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalaf Khalafov with the parliamentary delegation of Italy

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov met with the delegation consisting of Senator Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata, Chair of the Standing Committee on European Union Policies of the Senate of Italy, Senator Marco Scurria, Chair of the Italy-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Italian Parliament, and Deputy Ettore Rosato, member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, who are visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the special session of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on the multidimensional strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy and the measures implemented towards its strengthening, as well as the broad cooperation agenda in the political, economic, energy and humanitarian fields.
The importance of interparliamentary cooperation in raising our relations to the current high level, and in this regard the importance of exchanges of visits, was noted.
Deputy Minister Khalaf Khalafov provided detailed information about Azerbaijan’s efforts towards establishing lasting peace in the region in the post-conflict period and the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories.
The Italian parliamentarians stated that Azerbaijan is an important strategic partner of Italy and the leading country of the region, and that Azerbaijan’s efforts towards establishing peace in the region are commendable.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on Azerbaijan’s role in Europe’s energy security and the implementation of international transport projects, as well as other topics of mutual interest.
