No:265/26, Press release on the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan from Syria

As a result of phased and coordinated measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the repatriation of 23 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan (7 women and 16 children) from the Syrian Arab Republic to our country was carried out on 7, 9 and 11 June of the current year.
At the initial stage of the repatriation process, the location, identity and affiliation of the repatriates with the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan were determined. Through the relevant coordination carried out by the Embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Türkiye, as well as the Consulate General in Istanbul, our citizens were provided with “certificates of return to the Republic of Azerbaijan” and flight tickets.
Members of the Working Group composed of state institutions responsible for the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who faced crisis situations in foreign countries were deployed to Syria, and initial medical and psychological examinations of the repatriates were conducted.
Relevant measures are envisaged to be carried out towards the social rehabilitation of the repatriates and their reintegration into society in our country.
Necessary measures for the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who became victims of armed conflict in the territories of foreign countries will continue to be taken.
