No:257/26, Press release on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Lithuania

On 8 June, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Lithuania was held in Vilnius.
The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, while the Lithuanian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Audra Plepytė.
During the consultations, the current state of existing political relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania was discussed extensively, and the importance of the continued nature of mutual visits at various levels was emphasized.
Within the framework of the consultations, opportunities for expanding cooperation in the trade, economic, humanitarian, science and education fields were reviewed. At the same time, future prospects for cooperation were assessed in the context of strategic energy and transport projects implemented at the initiative and with the participation of Azerbaijan.
Furthermore, an exchange of views was conducted on existing plans towards expanding the treaty-legal framework.
Attention was focused on the continuation of relations and mutual engagement within the framework of international organizations, as well as issues of mutual support for candidacies.
The sides exchanged views on the current situation in the region, the process of normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, as well as the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories and the work being done towards eliminating the mine threat.
In addition, other regional and international issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
Within the framework of the visit, F. Rzayev also held business meetings with other officials of Lithuania, as well as participated in roundtable discussions at a scientific research center.
