No:247/26, Press release on Azerbaijani citizens who lost their lives and were injured as a result of the striking of ships in the Sea of Azov

The number and identities of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who lost their lives and were injured on the “Natra” and “Zirkon” cargo vessels as a result of drone attacks in the Sea of Azov on 5 June have been clarified.
According to updated information, out of a total of 25 Azerbaijani citizens, 4 people were injured, while 4 people are reported to have lost their lives. It has been established that another person, who was initially announced as deceased, was not an Azerbaijani citizen or of Azerbaijani origin, but a Russian citizen.
The bodies of our citizens who lost their lives, Rajab Ahadov, born in 1976, and Mahammad Aliyev, born in 1997, have been found, and measures are being taken to send the remains to our country. It should be noted that the “Zirkon” vessel, on board of which were two other citizens of ours reported to have lost their lives, has been kept at the place where it was struck due to the risk of explosion. Safety measures are being taken by Russian rescue teams to bring the vessel to the port. It will be possible to provide accurate information on the fate of the two citizens only after the search measures are completed.
The injured persons placed in the Yeysk city hospital, Samid Ibadzada and Rashad Madatkhanov, born in 1998, have already been discharged from the hospital. The condition of Emin Valehov, born in 2002, and Namig Jafarli, born in 1999, is also good, and they will be discharged from the hospital after completing their treatment.
Employees of our Embassy in Russia are in the area, and measures are being taken to provide necessary support to our citizens. All our citizens have been accommodated in a hotel in the city of Yeysk and are in contact with their families. Our citizens who intend to return to the homeland and whose documents have been lost have been provided with relevant certificates of return.
We once again express our deepest condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives.
