On 18 April 2023, a telephone conversation was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi.
During the telephone conversation, issues on the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the GCC, as well as prospects for the development of relations, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi on his appointment as Secretary General of the GCC and wished him success in his activities.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s relations with the GCC Member States based on mutual respect, support and solidarity, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that these relations give impetus to mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the GCC. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, stating that the signing of the “Memorandum of Understanding on the Mechanism of Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat General of the GCC” made an important contribution to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the GCC, emphasized in this regard the importance of mutual contacts and dialogue towards discussing the issues arising from the said Memorandum, as well as the next steps.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, referring with satisfaction to the prospects of jointly implemented projects in the economic field, including the results of joint business forums held between Azerbaijan and the GCC, emphasized the necessity of using the existing potential towards further developing cooperation in the field of investments.
Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi spoke with satisfaction about the existence of many common values uniting the GCC Member States and Azerbaijan, and stated in this regard that he would spare no efforts towards the further development of relations during his tenure as Secretary General.
The sides conveyed mutual sincere congratulations to each other on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan holiday and wished that this holy holiday would bring peace and tranquility to the entire Islamic world.
During the telephone conversation, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
