On 11 April 2023, a telephone conversation was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Zambry Abdul Kadir.
During the telephone conversation, an exchange of views was conducted on issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malaysia, as well as the current situation in the region and the world.
The sides extended mutual congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, as well as the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia, marked in April of this year, and confidence was expressed that cooperation between our friendly and brotherly countries and peoples will further expand.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke with satisfaction about the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Malaysia in various fields, including economic, energy, humanitarian, education, tourism, etc., and noted that mutual contacts are important in the development of relations. In this regard, the importance of the political consultations held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in Kuala Lumpur in July of last year was highlighted. The successful experience of cooperation carried out between the two countries within the framework of various regional and international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was noted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed his counterpart about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, and the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out by Azerbaijan in the liberated territories. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude for Malaysia’s support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir spoke with satisfaction about the level of political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Malaysia based on friendship, religious ties, solidarity and mutual support, and emphasized the importance of effectively using the existing potential for the further development of relations. The importance of increasing contacts between businesspeople and the population was noted, and readiness was expressed to carry out exchanges within the framework of cooperation and educational cooperation programs. It was emphasized that there is broad potential for cooperation between our countries in the field of tourism. It was emphasized that the political consultations held between the two countries played an important role in the development of relations.
During the telephone conversation, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
