President Mahmoud Abbas first recalled with satisfaction his meetings with National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and asked that his greetings be conveyed to Mr. President. He noted with satisfaction that the broad bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Palestine, as well as mutual support and solidarity within the framework of international organizations, are commendable. It was stated that the initiatives implemented by Azerbaijan as Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement towards strengthening the Movement, including coordinating the activities of Member States, are commendable.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, recalling that the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Palestine was marked last year, emphasized that relations based on friendship, solidarity and common values have developed between the two states. Confidence was expressed that the establishment of the Representative Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the State of Palestine will give impetus to the further development of relations. The mutual support shown by our countries to each other on multilateral platforms was noted with satisfaction.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side in detail about the current situation in the region after the 44-day Patriotic War, the restoration and rereconstruction works carried out by Azerbaijan towards establishing peace and security in the region in the post-conflict period, opening transport and communications, and ensuring the dignified return of internally displaced persons, who were displaced from their lands as a result of nearly 30 years of occupation, to their lands. It was stressed that the continuous provocations committed by Armenia and its failure to fulfill its obligations obstruct Azerbaijan’s peace and reconstruction efforts in the region.
