No:072/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Igor Khovaev, Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations

On 14 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Igor Khovaev, Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, negotiations on the peace agreement, and various aspects of the protests on the Lachin road.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that despite the constructive approaches demonstrated by our country both during the occupation of its territories and in the post-conflict period, and its advancement of proposals on the peace process after the 44-day war, Armenia has always obstructed the process. He recalled that Armenia boycotted the next round of negotiations on the peace agreement planned to be held in December.
It was noted that the Lachin road is being used for the purposes other than those specified in the Trilateral Statement.
The Minister emphasized that the legitimate demands of the protesters have still not been fulfilled and that the Armenian side, using this situation for its own political purposes, is diverting the issue in a wrong direction.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on regional security and other issues of mutual interest.
