World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

The Republic of Azerbaijan joined WIPO in 1995 and acceded to 16 WIPO-administered Treaties. WIPO and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a Cooperation Program in 2006.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and WIPO during the visit of the WIPO Director General Francis Gurry to Azerbaijan (13-15 May 2014). Besides, the Action Plan for the period of 2014-2017 to support the implementation of the said MoU was approved.

Enforcement Centre on Intellectual Property Rights under the Copyright Agency of Azerbaijan became a member of the WIPO Global Network of Intellectual Property Academies in 2012.

WIPO Depository Library was created at the Azerbaijan State Economic University in 2012.

Under the patronage of the WIPO Academy, a group of Azerbaijani representatives received their master’s degree on intellectual property at the Turin University of Italy.

In the framework of the visit of the WIPO Director General Francis Gurry to Azerbaijan on 4-5 June 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and WIPO and the Action Plan for the period of 2018-2021 was approved.
